Patella Dillemma

We decided to take Teddy to the groomer right away to get him all cleaned up and fluffy for the holidays.  When we picked him up however, the groomer voiced some concern over his knees, that Teddy seemed to be sensitive in that area.  She told us about a common problem in small dogs called luxating patellas, wherein their kneecaps don’t stay seated in the knee groove, and sort of dislocate.  Worst case scenarios would involve surgery to correct the problem, and we would be looking at spending a lot of money to do so.

For a little bit we were saddened at the possibility that because we weren’t prepared to shoulder expensive vet bills from the get go, we would have to give Teddy back.  So today we made an appointment at the vet to see what the problem really was.

Thankfully, the vet told us his knees were quite normal and we shouldn’t be worried about Teddy having luxating patellas.  We’re so relieved that Teddy has officially become a permanent member of our pack :)
